Paul Ryan’s Lie Filled Escapade

September 13, 2012

The vice-presidential candidate on the republican ticket, Paul Ryan, gave a lie riddled speech at the RNC the other weekend and has seemed to have started a new trend among political speeches. Paul Ryan’s speech has been absolutely picked apart in the media lately, so much so that even Fox news thought Ryan’s speech was outrageous. We look into it more, after the jump!

Ryan’s speech was littered with lies on the speech he gave and it has started a new trend of fact checking political speeches. First however, we’ll look at Ryan’s speech. Ryan said that he hated the budget cuts Obama had made to defense spending, when in fact he had voted for the bill saying then that they weren’t cutting enough. Liar liar Mr. Ryan.

Ryan continues on about how Obama is at fault for everything that is wrong with our country saying that Obama has made the welfare system worse when in fact, Obama has done nothing but help Republicans out in this area. Obama had even granted Republican senators freedom to adjust the welfare laws in their own states. Another awful lie.

However, Bill Clinton had some fact checking done as well on his speech. Although he did not lie as much as Ryan did, he still did have a few fibs. Clinton said that “for the last two years, health care costs have been under 4% in both years for the first time in 50 years.” Although that may be true, Clinton credited this statement due to the new healthcare system Obama has put in place. However, that’s not entirely true. Economists point more towards the still-slow economy for the slower increase in health care costs rather than the new healthcare system. While one could consider this a white lie, it is still a lie nonetheless.
